Depression
Depression is the most common cause of poor mental health. Depression is one of the most complex issues that confronts individuals. In order to effectively overcome depression, an individual must be properly diagnosed as well as understand the cause of their depression. Depression has a significant effect on an individual’s life, impacting one’s ability to work, participate in recreation, and have functional relationships. An individual who is severely depressed has an inherent problem. Severe untreated depression can result in death. Treatment includes identifying the various aspects of depression, as well as selecting the most effective and appropriate treatment for the individual’s unique, depressive symptoms.
Depression can effect children and adults. The treatment must be consistent with the needs of the individual. Dr. Lucchetti follows the guidelines published by the National Institute of Mental Health for effective treatment of Depression. Dr. Lucchetti has specific insight into depression caused by use of medication and an individual’s disability. As a Medical Psychologist, Dr. Lucchetti has training and understanding of psychotropic medication. Medication can have psychological symptoms, which can result in emotional changes. Dr. Lucchetti does not prescribe medication. He coordinates and consults with the prescribing doctor. Effective therapies provided by Dr. Lucchetti include interpersonal psychotherapy, process experiential therapy, behavioral activation therapy, and other alternative approaches. Untreated depression can severely effect the quality of life, and one’s longevity.
